The topic of the workshop of Sunday August 29 will be "Analytical methods for measuring fatty acids in forage". Objective: To exchange knowledge and experiences between researchers in the field of analytical methods for measuring fatty acids in forage and make plans for further action. The workshop is based on active participation of all participants. No external expert is invited - the aim is that participants will gain more knowledge in the field by learning from each other. Different viewpoints will be discussed. Short talks of 10-15 minutes are welcomed. (anjo.elgersma@wur.nl).

9.00 - 10.00 Opening and setting the scene

Aim: Improving methods for the analysis of herbage lipids and development of strategies to improve the nutritional quality of ruminant-based foods through exploitation of forages and monitoring fatty acids in ruminant products. An overview will be given of previous actions of the working group on this subject.

10.30 - 12.30 State of the art

Based on personal on-hand experience various participants can give a presentation of methods and difficulties, advantages, disadvantages of various methods. Short presentation of experiences per speaker, followed by discussion.

12.30 - 13.30 Lunch

13.30 - 15.00

Presentations on analytical methods for measuring fatty acids in forage continued (see above) and conclusions

15.30-17.00 Future plans and evaluation of the workshop

Contributions of 10-15 minutes are welcomed. If you would like to present something related to one of the topics of this agenda, please inform me. We should make sure that there will be ample time for discussion.
